App Dev Plus is a Japan-based technology consultancy (Godo Kaisha) focused on software architecture and development. We work with clients who need senior technical leadership — whether for new system development, rescuing troubled projects, or modernizing legacy infrastructure.

Benjamin Smith is the founder and principal architect at App Dev Plus. With over 25 years of hands-on experience in software development, he has worked across multiple generations of technology platforms — from early web applications through cloud-native architectures.

His experience spans backend systems, cloud infrastructure, system integration, and technical leadership. He has led teams, rescued failing projects, and helped organizations navigate complex technical decisions.

Benjamin's approach emphasizes simplicity, reliability, and pragmatic use of modern tools. He founded App Dev Plus to offer clients direct access to senior expertise without the overhead and communication barriers common in larger organizations.

We believe that software development has fundamentally changed. AI tools now allow experienced developers to be dramatically more productive — but only when those tools are wielded by people who deeply understand software architecture and can guide AI output toward correct, maintainable solutions.
